Strobe Fan

How can the human eye see something that's moving too fast for the brain to separate into individual images? Visitors experiment with a strobe light and its effects on a spinning disk. The disks are illustrated with graphics that are affected by the strobe in fascinating ways, and visitors can interchange the disks on a small fan (with blades removed) on which the disks spin. By adjusting the frequency of the strobe flash the visitor can stop the moving images or create optical illusions, such as putting a bird in a cage.
