Can you balance your power in—food—without your power out—activity? To find out, visitors choose from a collection of weighted disks with examples of everyday foods and place them on one side of a balancing arm, then choose weighted disks with activities and place them on the other side of the arm. The disks are weighted according to their caloric "load" and cause the balance arm to move accordingly. The weight of the disks and the action of the balancing arm provide immediate visual and physical feedback about the results of the visitors' choices. Free experimentation with the disks allows visitors to discover the impact of their life choices and better understand the critical concept of energy in and energy out.
