Gyro Briefcase

 

Visitors push the “Start” button causing the briefcase’s flywheel to accelerate to high rate of rpm. Once the flywheel is up to speed, the “Ready” light glows; prompting the visitor to withdraw the briefcase from its charging base. When the visitor pulls the briefcase out, they begin their first hand visceral experience with gyroscopic precession.

The briefcase tilts and turns in resistance to the visitor’s motions. This exhibit facilitates a fun, hands-on approach to the scientific principles of inertia and momentum.
